I just bought a bottle of this recently in the Detroit area and was unimpressed. Nonetheless I went to their website and contrary to a few posts they are still in business and making the Raspberry Honey Ale as well as a Black Dog Ale now.

Does anyone know if the new brewery ever makes the sweetwater wheat or an equivilant? It was a filtered wheat not a hefe weizen and it was great. That was my favorite beer at the peaks. I came back to town the year after they moved and was disappointed as well with the new location. I've checked out the new brew pub web site and have to say I miss the black dog and "No Whiners" logo the peaks had.

This place has FINALLY given up the ghost, thank god! All of the "beer" you were buying in the store wasn't bottled in Montana and is still available in stores. The newer Bozone Beers are far superior to the SP's batches, try one today.

well here is a little bit of insider information, the owner Mark just got a divorce and mooved to Washington, and the wife is now running the place with Kevin the general manager. The beer at the restaurant for now will be exclusively produced by Todd on broadway in Bozeman. In my opinion it is now al loty better than the Monteray stuff. Also try the Bozone ale at the restaurant or any other fine establishement in Bozeman Todd has done a good job with this one.

It's amazing how the brewing process can affect one's perception of an establishment. Now that Todd Scott, the original brewer at the old Peaks on 19th, is back brewing the ales from his Bozeman Brewing Company on West Broadway in Bozeman; this place begins to take on some of the charm that it used to have. The wait-staff seemed friendlier, the atmosphere seemed more casual, and there were very few small children in the place. Once again I can wear my Spanish Peaks t-shirt and my Black Dog bottle opener with a sense of pride and dignity. The Peaks is (are?) back. Let's hope they are smart enough to keep it this way.

In response to Montana Beer Fan, I am quite aware that they own the brewery in California. The brewer that is currently brewing their beer helped them set it up. Before this they had their bottled beer contract brewed by Ranier and August Schell. Before that, it was brewed in Lacrosse. What was produced by Schell was usually better than what was brewed at the other two sites. What is brewed in California is not up to par with what was contract brewed nor what was brewed on site. Once they started selling the beer from California at the brewpub, one could easily notice the change. Just as a person can now tell it is brewed locally again. The local brewer was brewing four of their ales until the owners had a problem with licensing and needed him to brew all of them--let's just hope it continues. And please don't question my knowledge of the beer scene, you'll find I know more about beer than you can ever imagine.
